Construction

April 11th 2016

Today I glued the pieces together. It took longer than anticipated because we were never ready to complete that step. The first thing we did was find the centre of the wood plank to place the shutter hole. The second thing we did was use a circular drill bit that was 2" across and drilled all the way through the piece. The third thing we did was glue the first side and the back together and then we added lots of tape to keep it steady and in place. Then we let it sit overnight to dry completely.

This is the guide we used when drilling to keep the hole centred

This is the video of me drilling the hole.

This is the picture of the sides being held together by tape.

This is the what my camera looked like after the pieces were glued and taped.

This was the finished product from this morning

Today I started building my Pinhole Camera. I started off with 2 sheets of 3/8 inch thick plywood and cut it into five pieces. 2 pieces 10 inches by 12 inches (front and back), 9 1/4 inches by 9 1/4 inches  (sides), 1 piece 9 1/4 inches by 11 1/4 inches (bottom). I haven't glued them together yet but I am planning on doing that tomorrow. After glueing the pieces together the next step is to make a lid. The lid takes more time because it has to open and close easily but it also has to be completely light sealed, or else it would compromise my pictures.

This is the blueprint that my Dad and I drew.

These are all the pieces that we cut today.

These are the pieces in place, but they haven't been glued together yet.
